Phlirt's Pregnancy Diary 2007
| October 25, 2007 | Phlirt came into season this evening. |
| November 7, 2007 | Phlirt had her 1st progesterone level this morning on day 14. The level was 1.76 which is still low. |
| November 9, 2007 | Phlirt had her 2nd progesterone level on the morning of day 16. Her level was 3.44. Dr Mantell wants to see > 5 and also a rapid rise which indicates ovulation. |
| November 10, 2007 | Phlirt got her 3rd progesterone level on the morning of day 17. The level was 7.0. According to Dr. Mantell, this level means that she has ovulated (Phoenix confirms that at home LOL), so we will allow her ovum to mature a bit and she will be bred on Monday (11/12) and Tuesday (11/13) morning. |
| November 12, 2007 | Phlirt was trans-cervically inseminated this AM at Dr. Mantell's office. She got a mild sedative (medatomidine) and she did very well!! This sedative drops the heart rate but it is brief during the insemination and then the medatomidine is reversed. Phlirt remembered from her inseminations is 2005 and waited for the groggy feeling to go away. Smart girl !! |
| November 13, 2007 | Phlirt was trans-cervically inseminated this AM again
for her 2nd breeding. She did very well again. I think less
medatomidine was given this time as Phlirt recovered much faster this
time. I bought her raspberry leaves at Arrowroot tonight. I will start it tomorrow with her morning meal. |
| November 19, 2007 | One week has passed since Phlirt's breedings. She is a happy, cuddly girl. She seems to have a bigger appetite, but that may be just due to the fact that it is a bit colder here and she needs the extra calories for heat production. |
| November 26, 2007 | Day 14 of Phlirt's pregnancy. All is well. No changes to report this week. She's enjoying playing with her kids here at the house. We still continue her rally training which she absolutely loves to do. Her appointment for her ultrasound has been made - December 15th. |
| December 3, 2007 | Day 21 of Phlirt's pregnancy. She vomited her dinner last night (her favorite dinner - whole rabbit minus the fur and intestines), so I think she is having morning sickness. She ate well this morning and we'll see how she does tonight. Her "morning sickness" tends to be more "evening sickness". This is very typical around 3 weeks of pregnancy and mimics her last pregnancy, so I see this as a very good sign that she is pregnant. Yipee. She is continuing her raspberry leaves and her appetite hasn't really picked up much, yet. She is very happy and extremely cuddly on the couch. Her nose was a bit out of joint this past weekend when her kids went racing and she had to stay home, but she made a lovely nest on the couch with all the blankets and pillows. What a silly girl. |
| December 6, 2007 | Phlirt's ultrasound has been rescheduled to Wednesday December 12th at 7:30pm. Stay tuned....... |
| December 12, 2007 | Day 30 of Phlirt's Pregnancy. We went to see
Dr. Allum tonight for Phlirt's ultrasound to see if there are puppies.
Her weight was 53.5 pounds (up 2.5 pounds from usual). Phlirt
behaved very nicely and Dr. Allum definitely saw puppies!!! Dr.
Allum thinks 3-4 pups, but ultrasound isn't a great tool for telling the
quantity of puppies. On Phlirt's last litter, 4-6 pups were seen
on ultrasound and she had 7 puppies. So YIPEE!!! puppies are
coming -- due date is around January 12th.

| January 1, 2008 | HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Today is Day 50 of Phlirt's
pregnancy. She is definitely chubby and it seems like she is
hungry all the time. We continue our daily walk aka pregercise
which she enjoys. She got her new wooly warm coat for Christmas
and she loved the walk tonight in it. She was nice and warm.
My friend took some pictures of her this afternoon, so I will attach a
picture as soon as she sends them to me. Ten days to go....

| January 10, 2008 | Phlirt's breeder and my friend, Judy, arrived tonight from Florida. Phlirt was VERY glad to see her. Phlirt's temperature is still holding between 100.2 and 100.7. When it drops (as it did for her last whelping), puppies will be soon to arrive. |
| January 12, 2008 | Phlirt's temp dropped to 98.4 at about 4pm today. Things are starting to happen...... |
